This post is part rant and part non-rant about two topics that I feel passionate about. First up windsurfing (which becomes skiing during the winter months but that is another story), and the second user experience. First up, I was windsurfing again yesterday, 20 knots winds from the south to south west, a bit likeContinue reading “The windsurfer and user experience”

Digital Photography and Flickr
During the Christmas break we bought a new camera, a Canon PowerShot A710 a very nice piece of kit. Not the smallest camera on the market but in my mind one of the best, before you get into the SLR range. 6 x optical zoom Optical image stabiliser 7.1 Mega pixels Optional lens conversions LotsContinue reading “Digital Photography and Flickr”
5 things about me
Des Paroz has tagged me, so it is time to join in on the latest meme going around. Here are five things you might not know about me. Born in Sydney to English parents. Lived in Pupa New Guinea when I was a little tacker while my father worked on one of his archaeological digs.Continue reading “5 things about me”
Sunday 17 Dec 2006 – Water start day!
Just back from another windsurfing session about 1.5 hours today in 15-20 knot winds and I got my water starts nailed! Even got the board up to a plane a few times and was brave enough to go out from shore beyond standing depth, cause I can now get home. Lots of fun, can’t waitContinue reading “Sunday 17 Dec 2006 – Water start day!”
More windsurfing
Yesterday was day 2 of windsurfing, and a fairly poor one at that, for me at least. Too much wind to control the sail. Went out too late and the wind was already hoving at around 20 knots, gusting up to 25-30 (probably not but it felt like that!). Got in a few good (okContinue reading “More windsurfing”

Today was W-Day
Yes I did it, I went windsurfing for the first time in over 2 years. I had a blast but felling very unfit. Got the board, sail, boom and the gear down on our new trolley. The whole process took a good 2.5hrs set up, sailing, pull down, unpack, clean up. Spent about 45-60mins inContinue reading “Today was W-Day”
Back to windsurfing
When we moved down to Melbourne from Sydney one of the things I brought was my windersurfer. In the 2 years we have been here I have not yet got it out, for one reason or another. Anyway now we are 100m from Elwood Beach and I have no real excuse, other than no wetContinue reading “Back to windsurfing”
The environment
A few connected thoughts. The environment, climate change, and global warming are the talking point of every politician and news organisation at the moment. I get the feeling that there has been a “tipping point” reached and we might actually be making some progress here. Not sure what the trigger event was, maybe Al Gore’sContinue reading “The environment”
