Playing videos on my XBox 360

Ok I know I am meant to go purchase Windows Media Centre 2005 so I can stream videos onto my XBox, but come on there has to be a better way!

In know you can hack it but why does Microsoft cripple the XBox 360? There are promises, I just hope they come through.
